No Sound--
I am not running any sound apps when I start up vmware that I am aware of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Hi Bob, what did You do to get the sound device connected? At my SuSE 7.3 VMware always states that the /dev/dsp ist busy but as far as I see there is no process holding it.

A clients computer (HP Pavilion a320n - XP Home SP2) shows no sound device in Sounds and Audio Devices Properties. I only can listen to media CDs - this works great, of course using gnome-cd ;) Well, when gnome starts it says: no access to /dev/sound/mixer (or something similiar) But the thing is all the sound devices are set permissions to root:audio. We Have No Sound Device????
It would appear that my sound device has been removed! The error message reads Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer. What can I do to either re-install the sound device or install a new one?

Sound device reported but no devices created
